London Calling: Six Senses London Has Opened
The city's new urban wellness and luxury retreat
Since March 1, Six Senses London has been breathing new life into the historic Whiteley’s department store on Queensway as an urban wellness and luxury retreat. Located not far from Hyde Park, the brand’s first British property features 109 rooms and suites, 14 “Branded Residences,” and a 2,300-square-meter spa area with London’s first hotel magnesium pool , an additional 20-meter swimming pool, a cryotherapy chamber, and its own Longevity Clinic.
AvroKO (known for W Prague, among others) and EPR Architects (known for Rosewood London, among others) are responsible for the design, and they have succeeded in combining the building’s Art Deco character with the signature Six Senses DNA.
Culinary-wise, Whiteley’s Kitchen focuses on modern British cuisine and a concept designed to appeal to both hotel guests and local residents. With “Six Senses Place,” the brand is also launching the world’s first private members’ club.
