Kwanda in Rwanda
Day Lounge from Wilderness Safaris for even more comfort
Growth, a place for gatherings, a gift: the Rwandan word "Kwanda" combines these three meanings. It also sums up the unique concept of Wilderness Safaris' new Day Lounge. It was created by Rwandans by hand - to provide guests of Wilderness Safaris' Bisate Lodge with even more comfort during their trip in future.
Waiting in the garden
The Day Lounge is close to Bisate Lodge, but still tucked away. The spacious, circular and open-plan lounge is surrounded by Bisate's impressive organic vegetable gardens, overlooking the magnificent volcanic landscape. Guests can spend their waiting time here until check-in or before their return journey. Guests arriving at Bisate Lodge before the official check-in time can enjoy a freshly prepared lunch in the Bisate Kwanda Day Lounge before being transferred to their villa, on the day of departure it is available to guests after check-out from the lodge until 15h30.
"We are delighted to be able to offer our guests this exclusive facility at no extra cost to maximize their luxury and comfort," explains Rob Baas, the Managing Director of Wilderness Safaris Rwanda. In addition to lunch, the luxury also includes a boutique where guests can admire and purchase Rwandan art and local crafts. This provides support for small businesses in the area. The offer ranges from tailor-made clothing to local tea blends, Rwandan coffee, jewelry and oils.
Guests relax around a traditional central fireplace on comfortable leather sofas and can freshen up here. A special feature of the Day Lounge is that all the furnishings - from the cooking utensils to the crockery and the floors, baskets, placemats and garden pots - have been designed and handmade by locals. As a tribute to the Rwandan conservationists who campaigned for gorilla protection in the Volcanoes National Park in the 1970s and 80s, pictures and stories from that time are displayed in the main lounge. Use of the Bisate Kwanda Day Lounge is free of charge for guests of Bisate Lodge.
