Art on the canal

A new luxury hotel opens in Venice in mid-July

The hotel, which was known as "Riva Ca' di Dio" for over 800 years, has been given an upgrade. From July 2021, it will host discerning guests from all over the world as the Ca' di Dio luxury boutique hotel. The design was created by none other than architect Patricia Urquiola.

Small and fine

The five-star boutique hotel is located in the heart of the lagoon city in the Arsenal art district. Away from the hustle and bustle, but still in the heart of Venice, the newest member of the "Small Luxury Hotels of the World" scores with a successful blend of tradition and contemporary design. The noble Venetian villa, built in 1272, now pays homage to the city's fascinating (art) history. Hand-blown chandeliers from Murano, unique pieces from Studio Urquiola and many other details immortalize Italian craftsmanship in the design hotel. The 57 rooms and nine deluxe suites, which are spread over three floors, are furnished in the same way as the public areas. The element of water runs like a red thread through the hotel design - just as it does through the city itself.

"My aim was to create an original and distinctive concept," says Patricia Urquiola, "a Venetian villa deeply linked to the history of the city, with fine woods, rich textiles, colors, finishes and Murano glass; every decorative, architectural and lighting element is the result of the skilled hands of craftsmen who combine a passion for their work with the secrets and techniques of Venetian tradition." A goal that can certainly be considered achieved.

From Ca' di Dio, guests can reach the city's most important sights, such as St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, in just a few minutes. Relaxation is on the agenda at Ca di' Dio after an eventful day in the lagoon city. Guests can unwind in the spacious wellness area of the Spa Pura, in the reading room of the hotel's own library or on the roof terrace with a view over Venice. In culinary terms, the new boutique hotel leaves nothing to be desired. The main restaurant serves new interpretations of classic Venetian and Mediterranean dishes with a view over the lagoon to the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Light snacks are on the menu in the restaurant in the inner courtyard.

By the way: you can of course arrive in style by water cab. This takes guests directly to the hotel entrance of the Ca' di Dio.
