Facelift for Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul
The luxury hotel icon on the Bosphorus shines in new splendor after renovation
A new era has begun for the legendary Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul. The iconic hotel directly on the Bosphorus has long since become an important trademark of the city. With the comprehensive redesign, which does justice to the magnificent architecture as well as modern demands, the hotel is now once again setting new standards. Inspired by the hotel's rich history, the entrance, lobby, rooms and suites as well as the two restaurants have been given a completely new look.
For the timeless elegance
of the Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul is the work of Ottoman art expert Serdar Gülgün. While the entrance area with its lattice columns, dome-shaped ceiling, specially designed chandelier and pebble-paved floor is reminiscent of the garden of the Topkapi Palace, the magnificent lobby shines in burgundy tones with Iznik ceramics, an octagonal seating area and turtle figures - a reference to the history of the Çırağan Palace and a symbol of wisdom and longevity.
At the center of the newly designed rooms and suites
on the other hand, is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional splendor of the Ottoman Empire. Striped corridors, patterned fabrics and mother-of-pearl furniture are reminiscent of sumptuous Ottoman tents, while marble bathrooms refer to the bathing tradition deeply rooted in Turkish culture. Highlight: the suite on the top floor. With its unique fabrics, furniture and accessories, a bathroom with hammam, a dining room with special wallpaper made from old Bosphorus engravings and large balconies overlooking the Bosphorus, it offers a very special overnight experience.
Also top:
the hotel's two brand new restaurants. The Akdeniz by Esra Muslu in the Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul pampers connoisseurs with Mediterranean cuisine. The career of Esra Muslu, one of Turkey's most successful chefs, is impressive: after introducing unique Turkish flavors in her London restaurant and consistently appearing on the Michelin Guide's list of favorite places, Muslu is now keeping Turkish traditions alive at Çırağan Palace and interpreting them with Mediterranean accents.
The Gazebo,
which is one of the city's most popular restaurants with its extravagant ambience, stylish service and menu, brings Ottoman garden art into the present with its new design. The interior opens out onto the garden and is divided into four symmetrical sections with square seating areas, echoing the garden plan of the Ottoman Empire. An ornamental fountain in the middle, a huge cage stylized with Ottoman arches and decorative elements decorated with rose, tulip, carnation and hyacinth blossoms refer to the history. Here you can enjoy delicious sandwiches, an à la carte breakfast service, salads, light snacks or afternoon tea.
