Emirates with fully vaccinated crew
First flight completed
The United Arab Emirates is in second place worldwide in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. According to a research website from Oxford University, more than 55 percent of the population has already been vaccinated. Emirates has implemented a range of safety measures, including a vaccination program. The first flight has now been completed with only vaccinated employees on the frontline.
From Dubai to Los Angeles
Fully vaccinated employees worked at all points of contact with passengers on flight EK215 from Dubai to Los Angeles. From check-in to security control as well as lounge staff, boarding gate staff, engineers, pilots and cabin crew, all employees were immunized. Fully vaccinated loading and handling teams from dnata as well as Emirates SkyCargo teams, who took care of the cargo and logistics requirements of the flight, supported the journey.
"Our operational staff are on the frontline of aviation, helping people get to where they need to be and transporting vital goods to global communities. Protecting our employees through vaccination is important - for them, for our community, for the smooth running of our operations and also for our customers as it gives them an extra layer of protection when they travel with us," said Adel Al Redha, Chief Operating Officer of Emirates.
The Emirates Group launched its vaccination campaign just over a month ago. Nearly 26,000 UAE aviation employees, or about 44 percent, have received both doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Sinopharm vaccine. The group's vaccination centers were in operation 12 hours a day, every day of the week. "The demand for the Covid-19 vaccine has been very positive and well received by our colleagues on the operational frontline," said Al Redha. The vaccination program is the latest protective measure taken by the Emirates Group to ensure safe travel for employees and passengers.
