Behind hotels with soul are people with intuition, compass and vision. One of these special places is the Posthotel Achenkirch in Tyrol on Lake Achensee: the Reiter family has been running the 5-star hotel for over a hundred years and transformed the former post office into one of the first wellness hotels in Tyrol with a unique pioneering spirit. Today, the adults-only hotel is a holistic resort on 36,000 square meters that translates the philosophy of yin and yang into one place. It is aimed at body and mind in equal measure, offers activity and relaxation and combines Far Eastern practices such as TCM and Ayurveda with Austrian Alpine culture.

Stepping through the door brings the guest into a universe of tranquillity: pleasant fragrances, atmospheric light sources and a timeless country house interior based on the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi create a skilful balance between homely comfort and pure luxury in the 142 rooms and suites.

A weekly program lasting over 60 hours is designed to help guests discover new things, try out new things and find their inner balance. The daily wellness practice includes yoga, tai chi and qi gong with Shaolin master Liang or treatments from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) by expert Dr. Hu Ji, while tennis courts, squash, a 9-hole Alpine golf course and the hotel's own Lipizzaner riding stable with carriage rides invite guests to take part in sporting activities. The Posthotel is the first and so far only hotel in Austria to offer its guests biohacking treatments with an in-house coach to help slow down the ageing process.

Afterwards, you can relax: The extensive wellness portfolio covers over 7,000 square meters, including Far Eastern-inspired room worlds and architectural highlights such as the "Sunken Temple" and the two-part Yin Yang outdoor pool, daily themed infusions and the Atrium Spa with 34 massage rooms for Ayurvedic treatments or specials such as the Shaolin treatment. Brand new since 2025: Austria's first original Japanese Head Spa.

The hotel kitchen and the adjoining TCM restaurant "Tenzo" with regional products from the neighboring farm round off the offer as additional building blocks for health and well-being. Classic wellness is rethought at the Posthotel: with the philosophy of Shaolin as a foundation, host Karl C. Reiter invites his guests on a journey to the self and creates a place in Achenkirch where body and mind can once again flow in harmonious balance.
