The Grand Resort Zürserhof celebrates its 70th anniversary and becomes a member of Leading Hotels of the World

Family-run 5-star resort on the Arlberg combines tradition and modern comfort

The exclusive 5-star Grand Resort Zürserhof is located at an altitude of around 1,700 meters directly on the slopes of Zürs am Arlberg in Austria and starts its winter season on 3 December. The year 2025/26 marks a special milestone for the Grand Resort Zürserhof: the hotel, now run by the third generation, is celebrating its 70th anniversary and will become a member of Leading Hotels of the World, an exclusive global network to which only a few hotels in the region belong, from November. The Grand Resort Zürserhof offers space for relaxation and shared vacation experiences for guests of all ages.

Ernst and Hilde Skardarasy took over the Zürserhof in 1955 and gradually developed it into one of the leading hotels on the Arlberg. Under Willy and Monika Skardarasy, the hotel was further expanded and established as an exclusive grand resort. Today, Hannes and Laura Skardarasy are the third generation to run the hotel and combine Alpine tradition with contemporary comfort.

"70 years of family history and now the inclusion in Leading Hotels of the World - this year is a very important one for us," says Hannes Skardarasy. "We look forward to offering our guests unforgettable moments in a combination of tradition, quality and a personal atmosphere."

Winter and skiing experience
The resort is only open in the winter season and is located directly on the slopes of Zürs in Austria's largest interconnected ski area, with guaranteed snow until well into spring. At an altitude of up to 2,800 meters, guests can experience high alpine winter landscapes, while freeriders can enjoy the deep snow descents. Ski-in/ski-out convenience, private ski guides with decades of experience and the resort's own Sport Brändle branch for professional equipment ensure unforgettable skiing experiences. Alternatively, winter activities such as tours with snowshoes, tobogganing or cross-country skiing are also on offer. Guests can also relax on the sunny terrace right next to the piste.

Away from the slopes, there are indoor sports facilities such as tennis, basketball, indoor soccer and a modern fitness center. Families benefit from specially supervised activities for children, while adults can organize their time as they wish.

Rooms and suites
The Grand Resort Zürserhof has 99 rooms and suites, which are characterized by spacious layouts, high-quality materials and modern comfort. Just in time for the start of the winter season, some suites and parts of the restaurant have been redesigned. New fabrics and stylish furniture create a modern yet cozy ambience.

The different categories offer a choice of separate living and sleeping areas
sleeping areas, open fireplaces and, in some cases, private terraces. Families have the option of combining several suites to create flexible room solutions.

Culinary delights
In culinary terms, the Grand Resort Zürserhof combines alpine tradition with international finesse. Guests enjoy a varied program with themed evenings, fondue chinoise and a cheese buffet with around 200 international varieties. Children can dine supervised while adults enjoy fine dining.

The bar with live music makes for atmospheric evenings, while the separate Z-Lounge offers a quiet retreat as a smokers' lounge.

Aureus Spa
The 3,200 square meter Aureus Spa extends over two floors and includes a sauna area with Finnish sauna, bio sauna, aroma steam bath, experience showers, plunge pool and fresh air room with snow. The panoramic relaxation room with open fireplace invites you to relax. A separate Ladies Spa offers an oasis of calm for ladies. The Family Spa with children's and teen areas as well as age-appropriate wellness offers is available for families.

With its 70th anniversary and membership of Leading Hotels of the World, the Zürserhof underlines its role as an exclusive, family-run resort. Guests from all over the world appreciate the combination of living tradition, contemporary comfort and discreet luxury that has made the hotel a permanent fixture in Alpine winter tourism for decades. The resort is easily accessible from Munich, Zurich and Innsbruck airports.
