Capella opens in Hanoi
The luxury hotel brings back the splendor of days gone by
Capella Hotels and Resorts' newest property, known for authentic cultural experiences, thoughtful design and the highest level of service, is an ode to the 1920s. The boutique hotel was designed by none other than Bill Bensley.
Opera glamor of days gone by
Located just a few steps away from the legendary Hanoi Opera House, the Capella Hanoi is exactly what could once have been the meeting place for the greatest opera stars, artists and composers: an intimate place where the glamor of days gone by comes to life. It blends in perfectly with its surroundings, as the Capella Hanoi is located in the quiet and prestigious Hoàn Kiếm district. Here, centuries-old architecture, fascinating history and exquisite cuisine characterize the streets. It is just a stone's throw away from some of Hanoi's most impressive sights, such as the Jade Hill Temple or the French Quarter. In the hotel itself, world-renowned designer Bill Bensley realized his vision of a hostel during the halcyon days of the opera.
Bensley, who also designed the Capella Ubud, Bali - voted the No. 1 hotel in the world in 2020 - gave each of the 47 suites an individual design. With the help of over a thousand pieces of opera memorabilia and paintings specially created by Kate Spencer, he brings the stories of the mischievous opera company to life. Set designs and opera costumes serve as decoration, while details such as old-fashioned tableware in the "Backstage" restaurant and the art deco salon "Diva's Lounge" transport guests to an illustrious past.
The developer is Vietnam's most renowned real estate developer, Sun Hospitality Group. "We look forward to joining forces with Sun Hospitality Group to realize their vision in Vietnam's capital by jointly launching Capella Hanoi at one of the city's most prestigious addresses. From Capella and Resorts' perspective, the presence of Capella, with its unique offering and cultural experiences, is an excellent opportunity to continue to work on our growth," said Nicholas Clayton, CEO of Capella Hotels and Resorts.
