Canopy by Hilton: UK debut in London
The brand's first store opened in the East End on October 20
Canopy by Hilton, Hilton's new lifestyle brand, celebrated two openings at the beginning of the year. The Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero kicked things off at the beginning of the year. The Canopy by Hilton Madrid Castellana followed. With the Canopy by Hilton London City, guests can now look forward to the first UK branch. It is housed in the exclusive Minories building in East London.
Authentic experiences
"We are thrilled to bring the brand to London - one of the most dynamic cities in the world. Hilton plans to open 30 hotels in the UK over the next five years. Canopy by Hilton London City is a stunning addition to Hilton's lifestyle portfolio and symbolizes our commitment to offering exceptional accommodation in the world's best destinations," said Simon Vincent, Executive Vice President and President, Hilton EMEA.
But what makes Canopy by Hilton so special? Each hotel reflects its surroundings. In the London hotel, for example, it is the tradition of the Huguenot silk weavers. They settled in Spitalfields in the 17th century. Floral patterns and woven fabrics reminiscent of their techniques can be found in all areas of the hotel. The contemporary art scene of Whitechapel is reflected in the form of artworks in the public areas. The Penny Squares specialty restaurant offers locally inspired cuisine, prepared using sustainable and local ingredients.
In the Freedom Café, whose name refers to the nearby Freedom Press Publishing House, guests can enjoy coffee and East End cocktail creations. The rooftop bar Florattica awaits guests on the roof of the building from next year. In addition to the wonderful view of St. Paul's Cathedral, it is small, sophisticated dishes that attract guests to the top. Active guests can borrow canopy bikes free of charge to explore the surrounding area in a sustainable way. They can also work out around the clock on the modern cardio and strength equipment in the fitness center.
Sensory travel
The Canopy by Hilton brand hotels support the company's "Travel with Purpose 2030" sustainability goals. The new London branch is no exception. Here, sustainable measures include greening the roof to save energy and provide a home for flora and fauna. Some of the energy required is generated by solar panels, and guests sleep in beds made from recycled steel and wood from sustainable forestry.
Bathing utensils, purified drinking water in reusable glass bottles and sourcing the majority of drinks and food from local suppliers are further measures that will help to halve the ecological footprint by 2030. Overnight rates at the Canopy by Hilton London City start at 294 euros.
