Barceló on the Balearic Islands
The Barceló Nura on Menorca was added to the portfolio in mid-July
A lot has happened since Simón Barceló founded the family business 90 years ago, which now operates more than 260 hotels in 22 countries. As the second largest hotel group in Spain, it has also come a long way in international comparison. The Barceló Group is ranked 31st, and with the Barceló Nura on Menorca, another hotel has now been added.
Elegant design and lots of history
The hotel is a kind of homage to the island. It starts with the name. "Nura" is the old Phoenician word for fire and is the first surviving name for what is now Menorca. This is what the island was called in ancient times. But the Balearic island also plays a major role in terms of architecture and design. Traditional construction methods ensure that the hotel blends almost organically into the surrounding landscape. However, the design is not outdated, but on the contrary, avant-garde. It is implemented using light natural tones, natural stone and wood. Water plays a major role - perhaps as an antithesis to the name. It is repeatedly reflected in the furnishings and architecture. Minimalist handcrafted ceramic pieces made by local artists complement the interior.
A total of 128 rooms are available for guests traveling with family or friends. 45 rooms with direct access to a shared pool, each with the neighboring room, offer privacy. Three communal pools are also part of the new Barceló Nura, as are two restaurants. Both delight with Menorcan flavors; in the à la carte restaurant San Tanca, guests have the opportunity to watch dishes being prepared live in the show kitchen. But before that, a sundowner at the rooftop bar B-Heaven is a must. Sea view included!
The hotel, located on an island that has been designated a biosphere reserve since 1993, takes its responsibility for environmental protection very seriously. For example, solar energy is used as well as regenerated water. The lighting is particularly energy-efficient. Guests still have the opportunity to experience the hotel until October 20 before it takes its first winter break. Double rooms are available from 200 euros including breakfast.
