Antarctica on the agenda

Silversea Cruises returns to the South Pole

From November 2021, the luxury cruise company Silversea Cruises will return to Antarctic waters with three ships. The Silver Cloud and Silver Wind will depart from Punta Arenas, while the Silver Explorer will leave from Puerto Williams in Chile. The shipping company worked closely with the Chilean authorities to make this step possible.

Return to an unforgettable adventure

The adventure for guests on the Silver Cloud and Silver Wind, who enjoy the most comprehensive Antarctic package in ultra-luxury cruising, begins with a flight to Santiago in Chile. There they recover from the journey in a hotel. The next day, they then fly on to Punta Arenas. Embarkation takes place there. The other guests begin their journey on the Silver Explorer in Puerto Williams. Another option is to use the Antarctic Bridge. This is the first ultra-luxury flight service to Antarctica. It takes guests from Punta Arenas to King George Island in Antarctica. What follows is the same for all guests, regardless of how they travel: an unforgettable journey into the unique animal and ice world of Antarctica. In addition, there is the characteristic luxury on Silversea Cruises ships. This includes butler service, all-suite facilities, a team of expedition experts, exciting lectures, excursions, guided explorations and culinary experiences.
"Offering our guests unforgettable travel experiences - that's what drives us. Our agreement with the Chilean government has made it possible for our guests to travel with us to Antarctica again," says Roberto Martinoli, President and CEO of Silversea Cruises. "I congratulate the Chilean government for their unwavering commitment, which will allow cruises to the White Continent to resume in a safe and enriching way." Conrad Combrin, Senior Vice President of Expeditions, Turnaround Operations and Destination Management, agrees. He is also delighted about the resumption of Antarctic cruises: "With four ships already sailing in other regions of the world, we have shown that our top priority is to offer our guests unforgettable travel experiences in the safest way possible."

Guests choose from an extensive cruise collection. The Antarctica tours mostly consist of ten-day explorations of the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands. The five-, six- or nine-day cruises of the Antarctic Bridge cruise program are somewhat shorter. If you can't get enough of the White Continent, the "Deep Antarctica" voyages are the right choice. These last almost three weeks and take you beyond the Arctic Circle.
