Angel Ayurpura Hotel

First Ayurveda hotel in the Dolomites to open in November 2023:
The new Engel Ayurpura offers authentic Ayurveda treatments in an impressive mountain setting

In November 2023, the new Engel Ayurpura Hotel will open as the first and only Ayurveda hotel in the Dolomites and Italy, surrounded by an impressive mountain backdrop. Carmen Kohler, the owner of the hotel, has been passionate about the Indian healing art of Ayurveda for more than ten years. In 2014, together with a team of Ayurveda experts, she developed an Ayurveda concept at the main Hotel Engel Gourmet & Spa to promote the well-being of guests. The offer initially began with Ayurvedic treatments in combination with Ayurvedic cuisine. The program soon expanded with the permanent employment of an Ayurvedic doctor with an extensive range of authentic Ayurveda and Panchakarma treatments. In order to maintain the original hotel as a traditional family hotel and to strengthen the focus on Ayurveda, the idea was born to build a new independent boutique hotel focusing exclusively on authentic Ayurveda and Panchakarma - the Engel Ayurpura Hotel.
Dr. Vaidya Swami Nath Mishra, currently the only Ayurvedic doctor in Italy, heads the highly qualified team of Ayurvedic doctors and therapists at the new Engel Ayurpura. As one of India's leading pulse diagnosticians, he specializes in Panchakarma and Ayur-Yoga breathing techniques. Before joining Hotel Engel in 2018, he ran the Ananda Ashram Ayurveda School in Milan. Dr. Mishra is the author of more than a dozen books on healthy living with Ayurveda.
The Engel Ayurpura is located in Welschnofen (1,182 m), a charming South Tyrolean village in the peaceful Val d'Ega/Eggental, just 20 km from Bolzano/Bozen. It will be the new, stylish adults-only address for health-conscious people who want to relax with holistic Ayurveda.
The terms "Ayur" stand for Ayurveda and "Pura" for house or castle with the additional meaning of purity. The architecture and hotel design have been carefully planned to blend harmoniously into the surrounding mountain landscape. The acute-angled roof line is reminiscent of the rocks of the famous Rosengarten mountain massif. Local wood and natural materials create a connection to the immediate surroundings, and the architecture makes optimum use of the sunny south-facing position.
The interior is modern and sophisticated, with clean lines and natural tones. In addition to 15 guest rooms, including two suites and a loft suite with a free-standing bathtub and private sauna, there are twelve Ayurveda treatment rooms, a yoga studio with forest views, a cozy lounge with an open fireplace and a library. Lectures on mindfulness and health as well as various courses such as meditative painting and floristry take place in the studio.
The spa area of the Engel Ayurpura Hotel includes a relaxation room and a tea lounge with a panoramic terrace overlooking the outdoor saltwater pool and the surrounding Dolomites. A flower-filled garden with loungers, walking paths and a sauna in the treetops complete the wellness offer. In the relaxation room on the top floor, guests can relax on warm infrared-heated loungers and enjoy the panorama of the pink-tinted evening sun over the Dolomites.
The cuisine at the Engel Ayurpura Hotel is headed by Claudio Denti, a passionate chef with expertise in Ayurvedic cuisine. The Sarde is looking forward to sharing his knowledge in cooking classes in the impressive show kitchen and creating individual menus according to the principles of Ayurveda. These are specially tailored to the needs of each guest, following a personal consultation with the medical team. Guests choose whether to dine privately or join the other guests at the communal table.
An individually created treatment, diet and exercise program awaits each guest at the Engel Ayurpura Hotel. After their stay, guests receive exclusive access to the online portal "Ayurpura Care" for free  yoga classes, cooking courses, recipes and up-to-date information about Ayurveda.
The Engel brand stands for high quality standards in all areas, especially in therapy as well as in warm and traditional hospitality. These outstanding qualities are also reflected in the new, intimate Engel Ayurpura. The Hotel Engel has a long history dating back to 1830, when it began as a farm. The Kohler family added two guest rooms in 1862 and entered the hospitality industry. Because this region is simply breathtakingly beautiful - with its impressive Dolomite mountains and charming natural South Tyrol. Nature and the landscape beckon for walks and short hikes.
Bolzano airport is only half an hour away and Bolzano train station can be reached in 25 minutes.
