A touch of Paris in the far north

Copenhagen's trendy Vesterbro district, "one of the 10 coolest neighborhoods in the world" according to Lonely Planet, is home to Coco - a new boutique hotel that would certainly have pleased fashion goddess Coco Chanel.

While the reception and lobby exude Parisian bistro flair, the leafy courtyard with its huge parasols almost feels like Provence. Strong colors and a reduced midcentury design characterize the 88 rooms and suites, whereby we particularly liked the rooms with slanted windows. The hotel is run by the Danish Cofoco Group, which owns 16 award-winning restaurants in the country. Hotel guests also benefit from this: "Gastronomic Getaway" is the name of the program that offers a 25 percent discount in the Cofoco eateries.

Our tip:
Be sure to reserve a table at the trendy Høst, where scallops with cucumber and white currants and other delicious creations of modern Scandinavian cuisine are served on wooden tables.
