Engadin St. Moritz

St. Moritz is considered the cradle of winter tourism. A perfect place for a relaxing vacation. Snow-covered slopes glistening in the sun and a wide valley that enchants with its fascinating beauty. There's no doubt about it: the Engadin St. Moritz tourist region is a snow and winter sports paradise and offers a variety of ski areas: In Corviglia/Piz Nair, Corvatsch, Diavolezza/Lagalb and Zuoz, as well as in five other areas, there are a total of 88 fantastic slopes, which are considered to be very snow-sure thanks to their altitude and modern snow-making facilities. The dry climate ensures the best powder snow.

Skiing has its roots in the Engadin and the region has received the coveted ADAC award as the most versatile ski region in the Alps on several occasions. Together with Lake Placid and Innsbruck, St. Moritz belongs to the exclusive circle of places that have twice hosted the Winter Olympics. The fantastic skiing and snowboarding fun can be enjoyed with the "Hotel and ski pass" offer. Anyone who books more than one night in a participating hotel will receive the hotel ski pass for CHF 38 per person per day for the entire duration of their stay. The offer is valid until 6 May 2018. The Engadin Skimarathon, a fun run over the classic marathon distance from Maloja to S-chanf, is legendary here. The "spiritual father" was the St. Moritz sports retailer and former ski racer Albert Scheuing. It is thanks to him and the respective organizing committees that every year in March, around 13,000 runners take on the impressive and challenging route of the ski marathon on cross-country skis.

The glittering social highlight of the season is the White Turf St. Moritz, which also features the world-exclusive skijoring races, in which daring skiers are pulled across the frozen Lake St. Moritz at breakneck speed by unmounted thoroughbred racehorses. The Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz-Celerina impresses with its breakneck speed. The oldest bobsleigh run in the world is the only preserved natural ice track in the world on which international races are still held every year. Visitors can get an impression of the speed on a guest bobsleigh ride, when they race down the 1,722-metre natural ice bobsleigh run at a top speed of up to 135 km/h in a matter of seconds, just like the professional bobsleigh racers.

Not quite as fast is the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina landscape, which is one of the most spectacular narrow-gauge railroads in the world and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List for many years. The Bernina Express takes guests from St. Moritz up the Bernina Pass in narrow curves to 2,253 meters above sea level. The view is breathtaking and, like much of the Engadin, more than worth seeing.
