Vienna 2020.capital of music
In no other city have so many famous composers lived and worked as in Vienna. One of the reasons why Vienna is considered the capital of music - and next year in particular.
Today, as it was 250 years ago
Vienna is the leading city for music. In Vienna, 10,000 music enthusiasts listen to classical music live every evening in the State Opera, Musikverein, Konzerthaus, Volksoper and numerous other music institutions. It is not least because of this competent and enthusiastic audience that Vienna attracts artists from all over the world. Like Ludwig van Beethoven once did, they have chosen Vienna as the center of their lives and work. Among the best-known Viennese by choice are the opera singers Anna Netrebko, Elina Garanča and Juan Diego Flórez, the conductor Philippe Jordan and the musicians Julian Rachlin and Aleksey Igudesman.
Ludwig van Beethoven
came to Vienna at the age of 22. The musical genius, whose 250th birthday will be celebrated in 2020, found his creative home in Vienna, as well as the place where most of his works were premiered. The rich musical heritage of Viennese classical music lives on in the "world capital of music" with unbroken vitality and diversity.
And Vienna is leading the way:
with exhibitions, walks and numerous events in honor of one of the greatest musicians of all time. Comprehensive information for Beethoven fans can be found at:
