Grapes of success
The history of Caudalie began 25 years ago during the grape harvest on the family estate.
Grape seed-based cosmetics conquered the global beauty market from France. We took a look behind the scenes of this success story and gained some amazing beauty insights.
Mathilde Thomas and her husband harvest grapes from the family vineyard.
And turn them into high-quality cosmetics. They work hand in hand with pharmacists and skin research experts. In 1995, the couple launched the multi-award-winning Caudalie brand with three anti-ageing products based on grape seeds. They contain the firming active ingredient resveratrol, for which the company applied for a patent in 2001. This was followed by the Vinothérapie spa range with several boutiques offering unique care treatments such as the "Crushed Cabernet Peeling" with grape seeds and essential oils, the "Premier Cru" facial treatment or the "Bain Barrique", a bath in a wine barrel.
Mathilde Thomas does not use parabens or synthetic ingredients in her Caudalie products
and uses only a few Ecocert-certified preservatives. The brand conducts research into the green active ingredients of tomorrow and is also committed to the environment. It is a member of the "1% for the Planet" organization and donates one percent of global sales to planting trees - four million euros to date. A concept that has proven its worth: The independent family-run company not only occupies a leading position in the cosmetics industry in France, but also internationally. Over 75,000 Caudalie products are sold every day in 40 countries.
Resveratrol from the grapevine is a revolution in anti-ageing skincare
it naturally increases the firmness and youthfulness of the skin. Grape polyphenols are the most powerful antioxidants in the plant world and excellent shields to preserve the skin's youthful appearance. Grapevine juice is the most powerful natural molecule against pigmentation disorders and has a radiance-enhancing effect on the complexion.
The organic Eau de Raisin is made from fresh grapes.
Like thermal water, it is rich in soothing trace elements (potassium, calcium) and moisturizing sugars. It intensively moisturizes the skin and acts like a natural plaster that traps water and stores it inside the cells. It stimulates the natural supply system of the epidermis to distribute water continuously and deeply. It helps to prevent dehydration on the surface of the skin.
As the true gold of the vine, grape oil, rich in omega 6 and vitamin E, has unique nourishing and repairing properties.
Extracted from the cell wall of wine yeast during the winemaking process, Vinolevure has naturally strengthening and protective properties. It absorbs water and maintains the skin's moisture content. In addition to the valuable substances from the grapevine, Caudalie products are supplemented with ingredients such as fair trade argan oil, borage, evening primrose, hibiscus and sesame oil), natural moisturizing active ingredients (cassia angustifolia, peas) and fair trade shea butter. Also sage, camomile, linen, apricot and avocado butter, ginseng, ginger, echinacea, vegetable water from orange and lemon or extracts of verbena from India, lemon, juniper, broom, geranium, rosemary, mint and peppermint. In other words, a broad spectrum. Parabens, mineral oils, phthalates, kerosene or substances of animal origin are nowhere to be found: in other words, purely vegan cosmetics.
"I developed the Premier Cru line like a great vintage from the Bordeaux wine region.
It corresponds to the spectacular know-how of people and their meticulous work in the service of flawless quality and a constant quest for perfection" - Mathilde Thomas, founder of Caudalie.
With the new Premier Cru Serum, Caudalie is taking an important step in global anti-ageing.
In addition to the very high concentration of hyaluronic acid, it is the only product in the line to contain the new Vinergy® complex.
