Tour through Palma's bars

Sven Rasch, Hotel Cort hotel manager, reveals his personal favorite spots

A balmy summer evening in Palma has come to an end, you have just sampled the Mallorcan cuisine and would like to round off the evening with a classic or unusual cocktail. In situations like this, what could be better than a good insider tip about the charming bar around the corner or the place-to-be for the best gin in town? Nothing, you might think.

That's why Sven Rasch, Hotel Director of Hotel Cort in the heart of the old town, reveals his personal favorite spots around Plaça de Cort. The good thing about it: from here, it's not far to the hotel, no matter how boisterous the evening turns out to be.

Brassclub - creativity in a glass

A ten-minute walk from the Hotel Cort in Palma is the Brassclub with its 1950s-style New York ambience. The cocktails there are legendary: connoisseurs know that the creativity of the team led by chef Rafa Martín knows no bounds. The bartenders are also happy to be inspired by the wishes of their international guests. And it's not just the taste buds that are pampered at the Brassclub - every drink served is also a feast for the eyes, as is the fine menu for the small appetite in between. As with the drinks, the ingredients are carefully selected. The Brassclub is open from Monday to Saturday from 5 p.m. www.brassclub.com

Chapeau 1987 - For the classic cocktail evening

This industrial design bar is (still) Sven Rasch's insider tip for anyone longing for a classic cocktail evening. With its large selection of over 150 types of whisky and no less varied drinks and cocktail menu, the bar is a meeting place for Palma locals and visitors to Mallorca alike. In 2020, Chapeau won the "Best Cocktail Menu" category at the "FiBar" trade fair in 1987. Owner Martías Iriarte and his team attach great importance to local products, sometimes mixing drinks with rather unusual ingredients such as cold-pressed fennel or white pepper. Chapeau 1987 is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. and is located very close to the Hotel Cort. www.instagram.com/Chapeau1987

Ginbo - hotspot for gin lovers

Mallorca's Mediterranean climate and gin are a "winning team" - not only Cort director Sven Rasch is convinced of this. So for many, it seems like a stroke of luck that Ginbo, Palma's hotspot for gin lovers, is located very close to the boutique hotel on Plaça de Cort. The name says it all and almost everything revolves around the trendy drink. In the wood-paneled cult bar
