Spartan Sport Wrist HR

The Finnish sports watch manufacturer Suunto presents its first GPS watch with heart rate measurement on the wrist: the Spartan Sport Wrist HR. Major technological advances in heart rate measurement and increasing demand have prompted Suunto to launch a multisport GPS watch with an optical heart rate sensor. The GPS watch combines Suunto's typical robust yet stylish design with extensive sports functions. The latest addition to the Spartan collection features a color touchscreen with a high-contrast display and is handmade in Finland. The GPS watch is available in black, blue and pink.

The Spartan Sport Wrist HR
complements the Spartan collection launched last year. The advanced multisport GPS watch is Suunto's first model with an optical heart rate sensor. "The major technological advances in wrist-based heart rate measurement and the increasing demand for easy-to-use recording solutions in sports have prompted Suunto to combine its sports expertise and accurate recording methods with convenient optical heart rate measurement," says Philippe Descombes, Sales Manager Suunto Switzerland. The new Spartan Sport Wrist HR is equipped with Valencell's patented PerformTek biometric measurement technology, which is the industry leader in sensor accuracy. The heart rate sensor is located on the underside of the watch and uses LED sensors to measure the volume of blood flow and determine corresponding values. This means that the heart rate can be read during a specific activity or in daily use without the need for a disturbing chest strap. Currently, the deviation between the measurement on the wrist and the heart rate measured on the chest is a maximum of 5 percent in 90 percent of cases. If the watch has to be worn under demanding conditions, such as when swimming or over clothing, it can also be connected to a heart rate chest strap via Bluetooth Smart. In addition to monitoring the heart rate, the watch counts steps and calories burned. Athletes can use this data to find out more about their recovery status and incorporate it into their nutritional decisions.

The Spartan Sport Wrist HR , which is painstakingly handcrafted in Finland
is equipped with a robust case, mineral crystal glass and a stainless steel frame. The color touchscreen can withstand heavy use, has a wide viewing angle and its high-contrast display is easy to see even in bright sunlight. All models in the Spartan collection have 80 pre-installed sports modes and countless sport-specific key figures, the display of which can be individually personalized. The Spartan Sport Wrist HR records training via GPS/GLONASS tracking, FusedSpeed™ and an integrated accelerometer and provides a wide range of insights into the athlete's progress, both on the watch and via Suunto Movescount. With this extensive data and detailed graphics, the model is the ideal training companion for multisport athletes.
