From March 29, 2019, Willi Opitz welcomes his guests to enjoy, taste wine and experience nature all year round.

True to the motto "Life is too short to drink bad wine", Willi Opitz, passionate winemaker and award-winning wine producer from Illmitz on Lake Neusiedl, lives and breathes wine. On the weekend of March 29, 2019, the traditional spring walk starts at the winery and throughout Illmitz: the award-winning winemaker invites wine lovers and connoisseurs to taste the new vintages at the start of spring. The cellar doors are now open!


The renowned winemaker runs a family-run winery
where wine lovers can create their own cuvée and get helpful tips for enjoying wine at home. Eight guest rooms invite you to relax on an enjoyable weekend in the natural paradise around Lake Neusiedl. The Opitz family guarantees an unforgettable time during a wine tasting with perfectly matched small food combinations at gourmet level.


The tasty dishes are prepared
by son-in-law Iain and daughter Angela, who acquired her skills in London with 3-Michelin-star chef Marco Pierre White. Unique hospitality in a private atmosphere and enjoyment in a class of its own - the Opitz family's winery offers a very special stay!


Today, Willi Opitz and his wife Maria are among the most dazzling personalities on the national and international wine scene.
From mission to passion to profession - that is the path Willi Opitz has taken. In 1996/97, he was the first Austrian to be awarded the title "Winemaker of the Year" in London. As an inventor of reed wines, he was even entered in the Austrian wine code.
