The Engadin Skimarathon is not only one of the most important mass sports events in the country, but also a popular meeting place for the world's elite. The "Engadiner" is the largest cross-country skiing event in Switzerland and the second largest in the world. In 1977, the number of participants passed the ten-thousand mark for the first time. Since then, it has stabilized at around 13,000 participants from around 60 nations.
