Ready for the (virtual) island? Escape to Jamaica
Jamaica also ensures a good mood online
Admittedly - we love it! The reggae playlist from the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) brings the smooth vibes of the dream island directly into your own four walls. Now comes the next ingenious trick: virtual Jamaica experiences in a class of their own are waiting to send a good mood, relaxation and inspiration home to people who are currently living in social isolation around the world.
This time it's a whole series of events in the form of a weekly live series on the JTB Instagram channel, which began on Friday, April 3 at 8 pm Jamaican local time (3 am German time) under the title "Escape to Jamaica" with a reggae and dancehall party, hosted by the famous Jamaican disc jockeys "ZJ Sparks" and "DJ ZIP 103". In addition to music performances, the Instagram channel will also feature wellness and yoga sessions as well as live cooking streams with typical Jamaican cuisine.
"We are aware that people from all parts of the world may need a distraction with what is happening now. With this live series, Jamaica is offering a virtual trip through our music, cuisine, culture, warm people and the unmistakable Jamaican spirit," said Donovan White, Jamaica's Director of Tourism. "Since visitors can't come to us right now, we want to bring the 'Heartbeat of the World' to their homes. Jamaica will be here to welcome back travelers when the time is right. We want our followers to know that we can only get through this together."
