Olympia, here we come!

Europäische Reiseversicherung will continue to be the official travel insurer of the Austrian Olympic Committee

Exactly 50 days to go until the start of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC) is busy with the final preparations for the 23rd Winter Games of the modern era. The entry deadline is January 22. Internally, the ÖOC is expecting 110 athletes and around 170 support staff. "We are prepared for any emergency," says Secretary General Peter Mennel. "With their commitment, Europäische Reiseversicherung and Europ Assistance have been proven companions for many years. It is extremely important for us to have reliable partners in the background - especially in the sensitive area of travel insurance. We do not want to and must not take any risks here!"

The cooperation agreement with Europäische Reiseversicherung as "Official Travel Insurer" and with Europ Assistance as "Official Assisteur" will each run for three years, i.e. until the end of 2020, and covers a total of ten Olympic events, including the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. "The range of risks for travelers has changed significantly over the decades. Regardless of the purpose of the trip, anything can happen to anyone. As a leading provider, we are very keen to provide the Austrian Olympic team with comprehensive, tailor-made insurance cover," explained Wolfgang Lackner, CEO of Europäische Reiseversicherung, at a media event in Vienna. "Only with travel insurance tailored to your needs and a worldwide network can you have competent partners at your side around the clock and guaranteed assistance in an emergency."
