Art at the highest level

Egon Schiele & Jean-Michel Basquiat at the Fondation Louis Vuitton

From October 3, 2018 to January 14, 2019
two exhibitions entitled "Egon Schiele - Jean-Michel Basquiat" will take place simultaneously at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.

The exhibitions provide a comprehensive insight
into the life and work of these two fascinating artists. Although both tragically died at the age of 28, they created an impressive body of work in less than ten years and are among the most important artists of their century.

The Egon Schiele exhibition
shows over 120 paintings, drawings and gouaches by the Austrian painter, including numerous key works such as "Self-Portrait with Chinese Lantern Fruits" (1912), on loan from the Leopold Museum in Vienna, and "Seated Male Nude" (1910) from the Neue Galerie in New York.

The oeuvre of Jean-Michel Basquiat
is presented on four levels at the Fondation Louis Vuitton and includes works from his entire creative period from 1980-1988. The 120 exhibits include collaborations between Basquiat and Warhol, important works such as "In Italian" (1983) and "Riding with Death" (1988) as well as works that have never been shown in Europe before.

Both exhibitions were curated by the Austrian art historian Dieter Buchhart.
