Swiss Alpine resort of Gstaad meets Hermès

       

On December 28, 2018, Hermès celebrated the reopening of its store in the internationally renowned Swiss Alpine resort of Gstaad. After 6 months of renovation and expansion, the new store offers a brighter and larger sales area of 165 m2 with a new entrance and a second floor where the richness of the Parisian creations is presented. The Parisian interior design firm RDAI was commissioned to redesign the store, which first opened in 1974. It was particularly important to them to preserve the uniqueness of the typical mountain architecture and to select exceptional materials that emphasize the natural character of the surroundings.


A repositioned entrance and four large windows
along the façade ensure a light-flooded interior and offer a beautiful view of the pedestrian zone of Gstaad.the main entrance, framed by two panoramic windows, provides a small glimpse into the interior of the store, where visitors are greeted by the legendary Hermès ex-libris made of stainless steel, set into the stone floor.

Integrated glass panels with opaque inlays let in light, illuminating the space and emphasizing the new, elegant wooden staircase that invites you to discover the second floor. The silk collections for women and fashion accessories are now located on the first floor, while the silk items and perfumes for men are arranged on either side of the main entrance. A little further on, a discreet separate area is dedicated to leather goods, watches and equestrian collections. A finely crafted carpet in a warm cinnamon color underlines the homely and intimate atmosphere of the room. The second floor, which plays with the design codes of traditional chalet interiors, is dedicated to the prêt-à-porter and shoe collections for men and women as well as the collections for the home. The light oak wood flooring harmonizes with the marble-clad walls in warm sand tones, the wooden frames and the cognac-colored leather decor. The new store combines the tradition and intimacy of the Swiss Alps with the excellence of fine craftsmanship from Hermès and the refined interior design of RDAI.
