Fine wines from Andalusia

The story of González Byass ...

...began in 1835 in the historic town of Jerez de la Frontera in southwest Andalusia. Manuel María González discovered his passion for wine as a young man. With the support of his uncle José Ángel y Vargas, known as Tío Pepe, he founded a sherry cellar in Jerez in 1835. Trade to England soon flourished and in 1855, his trading partner there, Robert Blake Byass, became a partner. Manuel María González believed in the success of quality, craftsmanship and "constancia" - consistency.

These values are already being upheld by the fifth generation of the González family. In addition to the parent company in Jerez, there are five other wineries in the best wine-growing regions of Spain, which were founded or acquired from the 1980s onwards. In the wine-growing regions of Rioja, Somontano, Castilla, Cádiz and Penedès, there are now innovative yet tradition-conscious family-owned wineries, all of which are managed individually. All those involved see themselves as part of a
large family. Sustainability and ecologically certified viticulture are playing an increasingly important role in the company's activities. Each new project is preceded by many years of research: the search for the right location, experimental viticulture, new concepts in the vineyard and cellar, organic viticulture, landscape and nature conservation. The aim is to produce exceptional wines with a unique and terroir-driven character. González Byass has also developed a small, high-quality range of handcrafted spirits, which now form part of the product range. These include, for example, the
super-premium gin The London No 1, MOM Gin, NOMAD Outland Whisky and the Lepanto and Soberano brandies.
