Fabergé meets Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce presents unique Fabergé egg "Spirit of Ecstasy"

They are among the most valuable and sought-after objects ever made: Fabergé eggs. Until 1917, only 50 imperial examples were made. Now a new Fabergé egg has been created. Two of the most renowned luxury houses in the world, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and Fabergé, have created a unique art object: the Fabergé egg "Spirit of Ecstasy". It was created by Rolls-Royce designers Stefan Monro and Alex Innes together with Fabergé chief designer Liisa Talgren and realized under the direction of Fabergé master craftsman Paul Jones. The Fabergé "Spirit of Ecstasy" egg is intended for a collector of both brands.

The egg combines the Spirit of Ecstasy
- the muse that has adorned every Rolls-Royce automobile for over a century - with the characteristic shape of a Fabergé egg, the pinnacle of ornamental art. The masterpiece reflects the extraordinary attention to detail and perfection of craftsmanship for which both brands are famous. Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, explained: "The artwork was born out of a desire to drive Bespoke personalization further. In response to our customers' search for unique items, a Rolls-Royce designer created the egg and sparked a fascination. It will undoubtedly become one of the most collectible items of modern times."

A team of seven Fabergé craftsmen produced the egg
from the finest materials. It is 160 millimetres high, weighs 400 grams and rests on a guilloché base made of 18-karat white gold. The rose gold arms define the shape of the egg. They open when a hidden lever is pressed, revealing the shape of the Spirit of Ecstasy. This is handcrafted from rock crystal. The rose gold arms, adorned with white diamonds, are set with natural amethysts specially selected for color saturation and purity. Sean Gilbertson, CEO Fabergé, said: "This creation is a special moment in the history of the two companies: It is the meeting of two masters of unsurpassed quality and design, representing two globally recognized symbols: a Fabergé egg and the Spirit of Ecstasy."

The Fabergé egg "Spirit of Ecstasy"
will be presented to invited guests at the Rolls-Royce headquarters in Goodwood on October 23, 2018. It will then be shown to the public in pre-Christmas London.
