A weekend in Malta

Event tips for the fall

Thanks to their good flight connections from Germany, the Maltese islands are also extremely attractive as a short trip destination for soaking up a little sun on a long weekend or discovering the most beautiful sides of the capital Valletta on a city trip.

Visitors interested in culture will find a variety of exhibitions and collections worth seeing, housed in historic buildings and magnificent palaces, such as the National Museum in the Auberge de Provence, a former hostel of the Knights of the Order, the imposing Grand Master's Palace - also known as "il-Palazz" - or the Casta Rocca Piccola palace, home of the noble de Prio family from the 16th century.

You can spend the night in style in one of the numerous boutique hotels in Valletta or the Three Citries, which were built in the old palaces of the noble families.

Birgu by candlelight 11 - 13.10.2019

Every year in October, a special festival is celebrated in Vittoriosa (formerly Birgu), as all the lights are switched off and only candlelight illuminates the streets of the town. A colorful program of theater, music, dance and culinary delights accompanies the numerous visitors through the night.
