Duftstars 2019: AND THE WINNER IS ...
The DUFTSTARS, the highest perfume award in the cosmetics industry in Austria, took place yesterday with a glamorous gala.
But the real stars of the evening were of course the perfumes, which were awarded prizes in a total of 11 categories.
In the "Prestige Fragrances", which are new products that are widely available in selective cosmetics retailers, "Girls can do anything Eau de Parfum" by Zadig & Voltaire and "Nomade Eau de Parfum" by Chloé won the women's fragrance category. "Bleu de Chanel Parfum" won in this category for men's fragrances. The "Classic Women's" award, i.e. fragrances that have been on the Austrian market for over eight years, went to "Un jardin sur le Nil Eau de Toilette" by Hermès, while "Acqua di Gìo Eau de Toilette" by Giorgio Armani and "Colonia Eau de Cologne" by Acqua di Parma won the "Classic Men's" category.
In the "Ultra Selective" category, niche fragrances that are available in fewer than 50 stores on the Austrian market, the women's fragrance "Les Eaux de Chanel Paris-Venise Eau de Toilette" by Chanel and the men's fragrance "Fucking Fabulous Eau de Parfum" by Tom Ford won the award. "Best Flacon Design" went to "Scandal by Night Eau de Parfum" by Jean Paul Gaultier. The "Media Award" for the best TV commercial went to "La Vie est belle" by Lancôme, while the best print subject went to Joy by Dior.
The most important award, however, is the Audience Award, which is decided by the consumers' vote.
They chose "Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum Intense" by Chanel as the most popular women's fragrance of the year and "Sauvage Eau de Parfum" by Dior as the men's fragrance. This year's honorary award was presented to star perfumer Alberto Morillas, who created cult fragrances such as Ck One by Calvin Klein, Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Acqua di Giò Profumo by Giorgio Armani, Acqua di Giò Profumo or Gucci, Bloom. He also scattered flowers around the host city of Vienna - with the words: "You could describe the city of Vienna like a perfume: elegant, refined, glamorous. The artists who have lived here have produced a cultural repertoire that inspires me every day."
