Caran d'Ache and China exhibition

Caran d'Ache and China

Switzerland from the perspective of the Middle Kingdom

Other countries, other images - this is the name of an exhibition by traditional Chinese artists dedicated to the untouched beauty of the Swiss mountains. The unique exhibition is the result of a close artistic and cultural collaboration between China and Switzerland and celebrated its opening on March 1 at the Nanjing University of the Arts. It will soon be continuing its journey and can be seen at the Kunsthaus Interlaken from June 9. Last summer, Zhou Jing-xin, Shu Xin-shui, Liu Yi and Xu Gang - four masters of traditional Chinese painting - were invited to Switzerland to be inspired by our Alpine landscape. This fusion of art from the Middle Kingdom and the natural beauty of Switzerland gave rise to the Chinese-Swiss works in the exhibition. At the end of their stay, the artists returned to their homeland with numerous sketches, on the basis of which the exhibited works were ultimately created. The fact that this unique initiative could be brought to life is due in particular to the following people and organizations: Master Wang Fei, who teaches calligraphy at the University of Geneva, Heinz Häsler, Director of the Kunsthaus Interlaken, the Maison Caran d'Ache and numerous partners such as the University of Nanjing, the University of Geneva, Interlaken Tourism and the Jungfrau Railway.

Jean-François de Saussure, CEO of Caran d'Ache,
says: "I am very proud of this exceptional exhibition, which includes more than 60 paintings by masters of traditional Chinese painting. Their works primarily reflect the artists' perception of our mountain landscape. From delicate fir branches in the shadow of our mountains - every detail is emphasized by perfect brushwork."
