Launch of a unique cooperation: On September 1, Bentley Motors and Graf von Faber-Castell present the "Graf von Faber-Castell for Bentley" collection - luxurious writing instruments and accessories in which timeless design, passion for precision and masterful craftsmanship blend perfectly. The collection consists of three series of writing instruments and matching accessories. All products were designed and developed together - and then realized by Graf von Faber-Castell in close collaboration with the Bentley team. This project represents an exciting premiere for the German luxury brand: it is the first time that Graf von Faber-Castell has worked with British partners.
More than 1000 kilometers as the crow flies and over 1200 kilometers by car
lie between the company headquarters in Stein near Nuremberg and Bentley's headquarters in Crewe in the county of Cheshire in England's northwest - but this distance no longer mattered from the very first meeting. "Bentley and Graf von Faber-Castell have many things in common," says Charles Graf von Faber-Castell, Head of Premium: "A long-standing company tradition shaped by personalities, unmistakable design, uncompromising quality and understated elegance." Just as Count von Faber-Castell is the epitome of exquisite writing culture, Bentley is regarded as the automotive luxury brand par excellence: since the British car manufacturer was founded almost a hundred years ago, the name Bentley has stood for classic elegance, pioneering design and unparalleled attention to the smallest details. Back in the 1920s, the legendary "Bentley boys" caused a sensation at the Le Mans races in their superior sports cars; today, the royal cars of the Windsors are just as eye-catching as the gleaming chrome Continental coupés of Hollywood stars.
From imposing horsepower wonders to rather delicate writing instruments
- two worlds united in one design language. "Transferring Bentley's DNA to other products is always a challenge," explains Chris Cooke, Head of Product Design at Bentley Motors. "With our Graf von Faber-Castell for Bentley collection, however, this has been particularly successful." The fountain pens, rollerball pens and ballpoint pens shine with many design citations from the automotive world: for example, the pen cap has been refined with the typical knurling and the distinctive Bentley "B". The characteristic "Diamond Pattern" can be found as a finely guilloched diamond pattern on the barrel - an aesthetic highlight. The highly polished front and corner pieces are reminiscent of the striking chrome-plated elements of luxury cars. The colors are also exclusive to Bentley: instead of classic racing shades such as "Racing Green", more modern, subtle nuances were deliberately chosen - the sumptuously iridescent "Sequin Blue", the anthracite shade "Tungsten" and the shimmering "White Satin". With the solid spring-loaded clip, the platinum-plated surfaces and the straightforward, understated design, typical design elements of the Graf von Faber-Castell Collection are also recognizable - a wonderful combination of elegance and speed that perfectly completes the case made of fine Italian calfskin, hand-stitched like the interior of a luxury car.
The new "Graf von Faber-Castell for Bentley" collection
will be available worldwide from September 1, 2018 at retail prices ranging from CHF 270 to CHF 370 in Graf von Faber-Castell stores, department stores and specialist stores, online and in selected Bentley dealerships. In the coming year, the collection will be expanded to include further writing instrument series and a limited special edition.
