Baltho Kitchen & Bar

Everything is new in the fall!

Baltho Küche & Bar in Zurich's Niederdorf district is now relying on the culinary skills of head chef Andre Lindner and is positioning itself as a "modern brasserie" with its new menu. The German-born chef, who previously worked as deputy head chef at the Riffelalp Resort * in Zermatt, works together with the team to conjure up timeless classics and international dishes with a local connection and made from regional products. But what would a fine meal be without a delicious glass of wine? The Baltho's wine list now also has a new look and focuses exclusively on Swiss wines.

Deliberately small, deliberately uncomplicated
Lively, traditional and yet different - the Baltho Kitchen & Bar is a typical "modern brasserie" whose name is inspired by St. Balthasar, patron saint of travelers and the hospitality industry. This fall, the Baltho Kitchen & Bar will surprise guests with many new dishes, but also with tried and tested classics. Andre Lindner is now responsible for the culinary creations as head chef. Born in Germany, he has more than 15 years of experience as a chef and previously worked at the Riffelalp Resort * in Zermatt as deputy head chef. Now the passionate cuisinier leads the team of around eight at the Baltho Kitchen & Bar restaurant. To kick things off, Lindner carefully revised the menu and deliberately set new food accents. Business people, locals, foodies and tourists will find timeless classics such as tender beef tartare or hearty Zürcher Geschnetzeltes in the carefully curated menu. The Baltho kitchen's philosophy of tradition and top quality is perfectly embodied by the home-smoked salmon, for example. The salmon is smoked with great care in the in-house smoker, giving it a wonderfully spicy aroma.

Delicious breakfast selection also for late risers
You can now enjoy a hearty breakfast at Baltho every morning until 1.00 pm. A wonderful selection of hearty egg dishes such as Eggs Benedict awaits guests, as well as light dishes and delicious étagères, fresh juices and the finest pastries. For a perfect start to the day.

Variety of wines from all over Switzerland
The new Baltho wine list features exclusively Swiss wines and was designed in collaboration with the renowned wine journalist Alain Kunz. It underlines the Baltho Kitchen & Bar's commitment to regional and local products. The new wine list, with almost 100 items and 30 different grape varieties, also perfectly reflects the diversity of the Swiss wine landscape and takes guests on a journey through the Swiss vineyards. Wines from 12 cantons are represented on the menu and there are specialties such as the Solaris from the Rosenberg vineyard or the Zweigelt from Würenlos. The individual wines were selected and matched with the utmost care and all were tasted by Alain Kunz. Of course, classics such as Chasselas were not to be missed. And why not try a Completer from Roman Hermann?
