The Balmoral appoints new General Manager

Andrew Mcpherson is the new General Manager of The Balmoral in Edinburgh. Scotland's only Forbes five-star hotel has 167 rooms and 20 suites, as well as a spa and fitness area. Mcpherson's area of responsibility also includes the fine dining restaurant Number One and the Brasserie Prince with its associated Bar Prince. The traditional establishment is famous for its excellent afternoon tea and is considered the world's first address for tasting exquisite Scotch. Mcpherson succeeds Cluster Managing Director Richard Cooke, who was General Manager at the Balmoral for over six years and now runs Brown's, a Rocco Forte Hotel in London.

Mcpherson was previously General Manager of Grantley Hall Hotel near the Yorkshire Dales. Under his leadership, the newly opened property was transformed into an award-winning hotel, winning the AA Hotel of the Year for England 2022-23, a Michelin star and five AA Red Stars. Mcpherson's other roles include Lucknam Park, Skibo Castle and Swinton Park Hotel. The new position is a return to the Forte family for him: after graduating from university, he completed a management trainee program within the Forte Group. He then worked in a number of hotels in the UK and Europe, including Penina Golf Resort in the Algarve, Beach Plaza in Monaco and Grosvenor House in London.
