Niamh O'Connell
Jumeirah Group appoints first Vice President of Wellbeing
Jumeirah Group has appointed Niamh O'Connell as its first Vice President of Wellbeing, Group and Corporate. The appointment comes as part of the company's new ambition to enhance the wellness offering across its portfolio and create unparalleled experiences that meet the needs of today's discerning luxury traveler.
O'Connell brings nearly three decades of luxury wellness and hospitality experience in Europe, the US and Asia Pacific. She has held senior roles at Hyatt International Hotels & Resorts and was most recently Group Vice President at Rosewood Hotel Group, where she was responsible for the strategic development of wellness and brand experience. At Jumeirah, she will work with the Jumeirah Group hotel and operations team to develop a holistic wellness strategy. This includes spa services, fitness offerings, longevity programs, therapies and holistic wellness as well as branding, design and programming.
"The relationship our guests have with wellness and wellbeing today has evolved from isolated treatments that provide a functional solution to an all-encompassing, companion approach towards longevity, life balance and self-care," says Katerina Giannouka, Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah Group. "Niamh is a world-class expert in this field and I am delighted that she is joining our team at Jumeirah Group as Vice President of Wellbeing. We see this new role as essential to our business as we continue to invest heavily in the development of our wellness offering, focusing on new concepts, therapies and partnerships that will enrich the lives and wellness experience of our guests during their stay at Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts."
"I look forward to initiating a new approach to wellbeing at our hotels and resorts, guided by the principles of lifelong learning, longevity and inclusivity. With this approach, I want to ensure that we empower our guests to improve their physical and emotional wellbeing through sustainable wellness practices," explains O'Connell.
