New GM at SO/ Berlin Das Stue

Dario Pithard manages the luxurious hotel at Berlin Zoo

Trendy, hip, lively, expressive: this is how Accor defines the hotels of its luxury lifestyle brand SO/ Hotels & Resorts. SO/ Berlin Das Stue, which opened in 2018 as the brand's first hotel in Germany, has a new General Manager in Dario Pithard.

Expertise and passion

"I am very excited to lead SO/ Berlin Das Stue and, together with my fantastic team, to emerge successfully and stronger from the approaching post-Covid-19 period. SO/ is a playful and deliberately rebellious luxury hotel brand that is a great fit for Berlin and I am very proud to be able to contribute to SO/'s continued progress," says Dario Pithard about his new role. Born in Germany, he began his career in 1996 at the Park Hotel Bremen and subsequently held various positions in luxury hotels throughout Germany. Pithard then gained experience in various management positions at The Ritz-Carlton in Asia before taking up his first position as General Manager at The St. Regis Tianjin in China in 2017. From April 2019 until his move to SO/ Berlin Das Stue, he managed the W Guangzhou in China, a Marriott Group property.

The German was not chosen by chance, as Marc Dardenne, who is responsible for Accor's luxury brands in Europe as Chief Operating Officer, reveals: "With his expertise in the international luxury hotel industry and his passion for gastronomy and urban art paired with his inspiring leadership personality, Dario Pithard will help to continue to position SO/ Berlin Das Stue as the 'place to be' for Berlin's creative scene and for connoisseurs. We are very much looking forward to working together and contributing to the growing success of the SO/ brand in Europe."

Part of the hotel's extraordinary art concept is that references to the adjacent zoo can be found throughout the hotel. These allusions can even be found in the hotel uniforms created by Dutch designer duo Viktor&Rolf. Despite its extravagant design, the hotel in the former Royal Danish Legation building is not lacking in luxury. With the Spanish-inspired restaurant "Cinco by Paco Pérez", the hotel offers a Michelin-starred restaurant as well as an upscale bar culture and a casual restaurant; spa, pool, gym and sauna are of course also available.
