New GM for the Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary

German Pierre Lang will manage the resort on Koh Samui in future

Founded in 2005 by Karina and John Stewart, the Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa on the Thai island of Koh Samui is now a popular destination for those seeking peace and quiet. The resort, which is located on tranquil Laem Set Beach in the south of Koh Samui, enables its guests to mobilize their self-healing powers with the help of holistic healing methods from Asia and the West as well as healthy, natural food. New energy and improved health are the result. Nature also plays a major role as an energizing, healing element.

A Saxon on Koh Samui

German Pierre Lang has recently become the new General Manager of Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa. "I am honored to be part of the Kamalaya family with immediate effect. I got to know and love the hotel as a guest back in 2009 and am looking forward to actively helping to shape John and Karina's vision," says the 48-year-old. Hospitality is in the Saxon native's blood, it is part of his attitude to life.

During his professional career, Pierre Lang has already worked in numerous luxury hotels. His previous positions have included the Armani Hotel in Dubai and the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. After 15 years at Hyatt, he decided to take a short break during a ten-day Silence Retreat in a Thai monastery. His travels took him through Nepal, China and Thailand. Like many people before him, he fell in love with this part of the world. So when the opportunity arose to open the Alila in Bali, Indonesia, he immediately accepted. Until his move to Kamalaya, where he feels he has "arrived" after 30 years in the hotel and hospitality industry, he worked for the hotel in Bali, accompanying a total of seven openings.

"I always enjoy getting involved with new personalities." Lang says of his work as General Manager: "It inspires me to motivate, coach and develop people in a multicultural team." As General Manager, he is now in charge of the operational business of Kamalaya.
