Carmen Hackmann manages the Maslina Resort on the Croatian island of Hvar

    

Carmen Hackmann has taken over the management of the Maslina Resort on the Croatian island of Hvar and Miro Marić is directing all areas of the culinary department as Executive Chef. The new hotel manager comes from Almanac Hotels and was most recently Executive Assistant Manager for the pre-opening and opening of the Almanac Palais Vienna. At the same time, she was Corporate Director of Sales & Marketing for the Almanac Group. Hackmann started her career in London as Group Coordinator at Kempinski Hotels & Resort and was later National Account Director M&E Thistle & Guoman Hotels. She was then Director of MICE Key Accounts for Great Britain at Steigenberger Hotels. Back in Germany, she headed up Sales & Marketing at Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof and then spent eight years as Department Director at Regent Berlin. In 2017, she joined the Regent Porto Montenegro as Interim General Manager as part of a task force project. She then moved to Venice to work as Director Sales & Marketing for the San Clemente Palace Kempinski.

Miro Maric's cuisine combines classic French techniques with Mediterranean elements and emphasizes local herbs and ingredients. His aim is to enrich the Maslina Resort's culinary offering with creativity, seasonality and regionality. Maric has been working in Croatia for four years, including helping the Alfred Keller restaurant in the five-star boutique hotel Alhambra on the island of Lošinj to receive its first Michelin star. He was also Chef de Cuisine at the Small Luxury Hotel Palazzo Rainis in Novigrad and Executive Sous Chef at the five-star luxury boutique hotel Lemongarden in Sutivan on the island of Brač, which has 14 Gault Millau points. Before that, Miro worked at the legendary Relais & Chateaux Taubenkobel in Austria, the Interalpen Hotel in Tyrol and as sous-chef at the starred restaurant 180 Degrees by Matthias Diether in Tallinn (one Michelin star). He speaks seven languages and has worked with many Michelin-starred chefs, including: Jan Jacob Boerma, Christian Kuchler and Sebastian Zier.
