Kai Winkler is no stranger to the luxury sector. As a passionate hotelier and international hospitality expert, he can look back on more than 25 years of experience in this sector. His know-how is now flowing into the pre-opening activities and brand positioning of the first Fairmont Hotel in Russia.
Iconic hotels, outstanding leadership
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, a collection of iconic hotels around the world, has been delighting travelers with authentic experiences and unforgettable memories since 1907. The portfolio comprises more than 80 hotels around the globe. With the Fairmont Moscow, Accor, the world's leading hotel group, is opening a resort in the Russian capital that will consist of a hotel area and residences. "It is a great honor for me to manage this important hotel for the Group in Moscow," says Winkler. "The pre-opening preparations are some of the most important and exciting moments in a hotel's journey and I look forward to bringing the expertise and passion I have gained over the years working for the Fairmont brand to Fairmont Moscow," he continues.
As General Manager, Winkler has already successfully opened two five-star hotels. His professional career also includes positions in 12 cities and seven countries in Europe, China and the Middle East. His wealth of intercultural expertise is an important asset for the Group. The Fairmont brand prides itself on being part of local communities. It also strives to be a leader in environmental protection and sustainability. Since 2016, Kai Winkler has managed several Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, including Fairmont Quasar Istanbul, the brand's first property in Turkey, and Fairmont The Palm in Dubai, the flagship in the Middle East.
The German began his career in the hospitality industry in 1995, went on to study hotel management at the Hotel Management Academy in Koblenz and obtained a Master's degree in "Hospitality and Tourism" at the Neoma Business School in Paris. The Fairmont Moscow is a first in Russia, not only for Fairmont, but also for Winkler. "The hotel itself will be a design icon and will enrich the Moscow luxury hotel market in terms of product and service. My main goal now is to put together a successful and talented team that will enable us to turn moments into unforgettable memories for locals and travelers alike," Winkler says about the Fairmont Moscow.
