The Amauris Vienna
Grandiose newcomer in an old shell
A staircase with an elevator from 1900 and the stucco work in the meeting room of the 120 m2 Opera Suite on the Beletage remain from the old building . In the guest rooms, stucco moldings on the ceilings and walls create a classic grand hotel flair, while chests of drawers specially designed for the Amauris include a minibar, thin-walled Zalto wine glasses and a pull-out coffee machine. The double windows facing the Ringstrasse are perfectly soundproofed. The interplay of tradition and modernity is emphasized in the rooms by photographs of Viennese sculptures that have been applied to some of the wallpaper - with a different motif chosen for each of the 63 rooms. Comfort is created not least by the indirect light, which is an essential part of the interior design concept at the Amauris.
The sauna was moved from the top floor to the second floor during the core refurbishment , where a small, covered swimming pool also adorns the inner courtyard. Upstairs there are now several suites with free-standing bathtubs next to the bed. They are all obviously named after butterflies. Hanging in the suites are oil paintings from the owners' art collection, which also lend the restaurant and bistro a museum aura and are mainly by Austrian painters from around 1900 (and a little later). Conclusion: The Relais & Châteaux hotel association has gained another valuable hotel!
