Imperial Riding School, Autograph Collection

Timeless icon

The hotel ' Imperial Riding School, Autograph Collection ' reflects Vienna's cultural heritage and skillfully combines etiquette with rebellious character.
Garden palace, imperial royal military riding school, Vienna's largest silent movie theater, post bus garage - the imposing building in Ungargasse in Vienna's 3rd district looks back on an eventful past. Built in 1727 by baroque architect Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt, the Hotel Imperial Riding School, Autograph Collection opened in summer 2024 after four years of vacancy and 18 months of renovation, making it the first hotel of the international Marriott brand Autograph Collection in Austria.

Nestled in the historic quarter of the city, the hotel skillfully combines its imperial tradition with the modern zeitgeist. The former stables of the military riding school and the elegance of the art of riding provided the inspiration for this magical place full of creative impulses. Behind the magnificent façade of the Imperial Riding School are not only 342 elegant guest rooms and a 450 m² wellness area with indoor pool and 13 event rooms, but also the largest private garden in the city, which was once laid out as an orchard by Emperor Franz Joseph I and supplied the imperial court with fruit.

The culinary heart of the hotel, the Elstar restaurant, is named after the local apple variety Elstar, which is still grown in the garden today. The cuisine combines Vienna's culinary heritage with modern, creative accents, traditional Austrian dishes with influences from neighboring countries to the east. The Farrier is the elegant bar of the hotel, named after the craftsmen who were responsible for training the horses in the riding school. You can meet here for a coffee during the day. In the evening, regional wines or creative interpretations of classic cocktails beckon - the perfect way to end a day in Vienna in style! www.imperialridingschool.com
