Hotel Stein

A Salzburg design icon with Italian flair

The adults-only Hotel Stein is the perfect retreat—and offers an unparalleled view of the city.
Anyone who knows Salzburg knows the Stein. And it’s not just because of its prominent location on the right bank of the Salzach. The “Stein” is a very special hotel, an urban experience, an original from the 1950s, cosmopolitan and youthful. And nowhere else in Salzburg do extravagant design, art, and lifestyle come together as effortlessly as they do here. Italy’s influence on Salzburg’s cityscape dates back to the 16th century. The adults-only hotel therefore elegantly combines Venetian interior elements with its over 600-year-old walls. The 1950s originals in the entrance and lobby harmonize perfectly with the Venetian lighting by Barovier & Toso, the fabrics from the Venetian textile house Rubelli, and the expansive cityscapes by photographer Luigi Caputo.

Hovering above it all is the stone terrace on the seventh floor: Salzburg’s incomparable rooftop location featuring modern spice-inspired cuisine by Michelin-starred chef Andreas Senn and chill beats. Whether for breakfast or cool drinks and dinner: a “place to be” that touches the soul and lingers in the memory.

A light-and-glass installation spanning seven floors in the stairwell leads up to the 56 designer rooms and suites. Here, a sophisticated mix of materials and colors, combined with the use of artistic, one-of-a-kind pieces, creates a very special atmosphere and opens up cozy, feel-good spaces for body, soul, and spirit. The Honeymoon Suite is particularly impressive with its stylish historic stucco ceiling dating back to 1740. With a relaxation area, sauna, and gym, the elegant spa offers a relaxing respite from sightseeing on gloomy and cold days. Guests are pampered here with high-quality natural cosmetics from the cult brand Saint Charles Wien-Berlin.
