Fancourt, located on South Africa's Garden Route, is known to many as a golf destination. But the estate in George is also home to The Manor House—a country estate in the style of the English Cotswolds.
The final leg of the journey is delightfully brief. FromGeorge Airport, just seven kilometers lie between you and Fancourt, where, at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains, a 613-hectare estate unfolds—an estate that most people know only for its sporting attractions. Gary Player has crafted four golf courses here: the exclusive The Links, the tree-lined Montagu, Outeniqua, and The Links Experience. From December 11–13, 2026, Fancourt will also host the inaugural Icons Cup South Africa, featuring Ernie Els and José María Olazábal.

much the resort continues to evolve. Both novices and seasoned players now enjoy The Links Experience, a new nine-hole layout, while two additional courses lie just steps away. At the Amanita restaurant, guests savour Geelvet biltong and freshly caught linefish. Away from the fairways, the Botanical Walk leads you past bird species, plants, and wildlife, through a rose garden and past a koi pond. At the Spa at Fancourt, treatments feature African plant oils such as marula and baobab, followed by a soak in the heated Roman bath.

lies within the parterre gardens.Commissioned in 1859 by the English engineer Henry Fancourt White as his private residence, The Manor House now stands as a boutique hotel with 18 suites, welcoming adults only and proudly belonging to The Leading Hotels of the World. Original Delft tiles frame the fireplaces, and velvety sofas stand beneath wooden-beam ceilings. Afternoon tea is served in the Garden Lounge beneath centuries-old trees; sparkling wine and canapés follow daily, and the pool is reserved exclusively for hotel guests. The entire resort, however, is open to them.
