Together with Le Saint Géran and the Royal Palm, Le Touessrok forms the holy trinity of luxury hotels in Mauritius. Like its famous competitors, the 46-year-old island icon has also recently undergone a makeover: The interior was given more pizzazz and the pampered clientele two new restaurants - TSK and Coco's. The Frangipani wing continues to offer the most exquisite living experience. The sunrise can be experienced in all its splendor in the Junior Suites - even from your bed. Nothing spoils the view of the sea, which presents itself in the most kitschy baby blue, flanked by the greenery of the private island of Ilot Mangenie. Coco's would be the closest breakfast option, but we save it for the evening (the breadfruit soup with truffle cream and the mahi-mahi "plancha style" are amazing!) At TSK (Touessrok Soul Kitchen), not far from the hotel entrance with its mighty banyan tree, a fantastic buffet with the best papayas and melons and live cooking stations awaken all our spirits. The high-end feeling is present almost throughout. You don't even have to book expensive extras such as an excursion with a Veuve Clicquot breakfast, tailor-made dinners or a helicopter trip with a butler. The free crossing to Île aux Cerfs, where Bernhard Langer has conjured up an 18-hole golf course, or to the neighboring Ilot Mangenie takes just a few minutes. Barefoot luxury is taken to the extreme on this Robinson Crusoe island, which is reserved for hotel guests only: First-class seafood or wood-fired pizza with truffles land on the rustic tables. And staff are also on hand under the parasols at the touch of a button. Touessrok rocks.

Test highlight: The Ilot Mangenie, a romantic hotspot with a lagoon panorama and gourmet food, is just a 10-minute boat ride away and is reserved for hotel guests only.
