Near to heaven: the Asaya Spa at Rosewood Vienna.
Like the Park Hyatt, which is just a minute's walk away , the Hong Kong brand Rosewood has also snapped up a former bank headquarters in a prime location - the "Erste Österreichische Spar-Casse" lettering on the façade still bears witness to this. The entrance is located on Petersplatz, with an atrium as the first point of contact, before check-in awaits on the second floor - seated in an inviting living room atmosphere. Several parts of the building had to be connected for the new luxury hotel, which can create a labyrinth feeling depending on the room number. Those who book a junior suite or an even higher category are surprised with an unusual welcome: the guest's initials are embroidered on the pillows. The Zotter chocolate as a goodnight goodie is also sweet. The interior is also generally original and of high quality: stucco ceiling, dressing table, matt gold fittings in the bathroom, wooden shoe trees in the checkroom, framed postcards as art on the walls. The lamps, curtains and upholstery are by Backhausen, the cups and spoons in the chic mini-bar and the toothbrush mugs are by Wiener Werkstätte. Something to get used to: the "Toto" toilet with warmed glasses.
The view from the hotel's dining areas is unrivaled. "Neue Hoheit" may sound pretentious as a restaurant name, but it keeps its promise, both in terms of its location between the rooftops and its cuisine. Whether it's sole and steak from the Josper grill in the evening or breakfast in the sun or in the shade of the green "Secret Garden" in the morning - the result is simply "wow". Even Robbie Williams, who was in Vienna for two concerts in March, left his 180 m2 suite with its own entrance and French balcony for the "Highness" and mingled with the people. By the way, Mr. Williams: one floor higher, the bar with its outdoor terrace and even more stunning view would have been tempting.
