Rocco Forte Torre Maizza
Small & Fine
Inside the suites, you can tell that stylish hands have been at work here, even though the rooms, and especially the bathroom, are rather small and the furnishings lack a touch of luxury. On the other hand, the garden area is spacious - but unfortunately only separated from the neighbor by a thin hedge. The suites with rooftop terraces promise total privacy and the undisputed star is the suite in the former watchtower with fantastic views over vineyards, olive groves and orchards to the sea. Speaking of the sea: you are also "shuttled" to the Beach Club, which is shared with the other resorts at Rocco Forte. The spa, housed in a former oil mill, was unfortunately closed during our stay.
The otherwise quiet hotel undergoes an astonishing transformation in the evening, when the restaurant suddenly becomes full and the reduced staff struggle to provide service. Rocco Forte's Creative Director of Food, Maestro Fulvio Pierangelini, has a good reputation far and wide ... By the way, romantics get their money's worth at dinner - whether in the candlelit dining room or outdoors in the gardens or around the 20-metre pool.
