Le Saint Géran will be fifty years old in October. All the more reason for the old lady to really dress up. The new, glamorous Guerlain spa is a fantastic success. The way it sparkles and gleams, it would receive a standing ovation even on the poshest Parisian avenues. In Mauritius, the icing on the cake is an 18-metre outdoor infinity pool, over which a slender coconut tree bends like a model. The range of restaurants is similarly stimulating. Top quality everywhere: whether at the seafood buffet in "La Terrasse", where lobster and oysters are piled high, in "Le Badamier" with lobster ravioli or in the Spanish-Japanese fusion restaurant "Tapasake". As a crowning after-dinner drink, Kamal also mixes a perfect benchmark sour in the library ambience of "Le Carré". Purring contentedly, you then head for your overnight stay in a chic Lagoon Room with huge beds, a spacious marble shower and wooden floor tiles - with a reassuring WhatsApp message from the host on your cell phone: "Cyclone warning canceled". He had been less informative at check-in: If we had closed the patio door from the outside, we would have been locked out - you need your own key for that. The sports facilities are self-explanatory, ranging from paddle tennis to workouts, wakeboarding and water skiing. Swiss hotel director Roman Goetsch would like to expand the water sports program and modernize it with electric boats, e-surfboards and jet skis. However, with the hotel's own diving center, which also trains instructors, the One&Only is already leading the way. Guests can be filmed and photographed by underwater drones - great souvenirs! Old lady my ass.

Test highlight: The speedboat ride along the mangroves and to a Hindu temple.
