Masseria Torre Coccaro
Country life with pure luxury
Many small, public rooms with book corners, musical instruments and cozy niches between blooming bougainvilleas ensure emotional balance. The attentive staff do the rest - even in the white-roofed restaurant under the star-shaped vaults, which offers space in two rooms and on the terrace for sunset romance. You'll want to stay here longer. Especially if you are lucky enough to attend a house party, where mountains of regional delicacies are piled up on tables in the beautifully lit and decorated inner courtyard. Sitting on bales of straw, you can sample a wide variety of dishes, get your fill of local recipes and wines and "dolce" until you drop. Katja Brinkmann, the owner, author and photographer, can also be found here with her husband Vittorio Muolo and a few German guests. A rather quiet spot can be found in the shining red chapel, where the inhabitants of Savelletri used to venerate their patron saints. Many votive plaques bear witness to this. Today, people get married, baptized or simply escape the scorching summer heat here.
It is also pleasantly cool in the underground spa, formerly a stable, which is now used for Ayurvedic massages, shiatsu and Turkish baths. Local herbs, exotic fruits and essential oils for herbal therapies are used - and that's what it smells like. You just have to be able to feel comfortable underground without daylight. Also a question of your own state of mind: the overcrowded Le Palm Beach Club, which is part of the hotel. Despite the pandemic, the hipster crowd flocks here, while at Coccaro Beach you are more likely to find some peace and quiet under white curtains on private gazebos.
