LUX Belle Mare
Like a phoenix from the ashes
The LUX* Belle Mare is the newest hotel in the LUX Group and was virtually rebuilt from the ashes after a devastating fire ravaged the old structure in July 2022 and 350 guests had to be evacuated. Today, nothing reminds us of the disaster, which fortunately claimed no lives: the lobby is brighter, friendlier and more inviting. The whole hotel has a clean chic look, it is green and blooming, and the picture-book beach has remained unscathed anyway. The cuisine is great, no matter where you are. A credit to the Australian chef Nancy Kinchala, who "fights for quality like a cat of prey", as the GM assures us. The fabulous buffets in the "Mondo" in the mornings and evenings cover 188 m2. It's hard to hold back. In the casual beach restaurant "Beach Rouge", you want to shout "Amore mio!" after your first bite into the mushroom and truffle pizza - it pays off that one of the world's best pizza chefs was flown in from Milan to train the crew. Just a few meters away, Asian snacks are sizzling on the lawn in a gleaming chrome food truck that whets the appetite in combination with a genuine Rolls-Royce vintage car. The "Maison Lux" café bar roasts its own coffee, a blend from Colombia, El Salvador and Nicaragua. All typical of the smart philosophy of LUX*, just like the typically red, British telephone booths where you can call home for free using an old dial. "We're extending for another week", you would love to shout into the receiver. The fact that the toilet door in the bathroom of our junior suite with garden view and balcony could not be closed had surprisingly little effect on the feeling of comfort and well-being.
Test highlight: The fabulously sumptuous quality buffets in the main restaurant "Mondo" and the mushroom and truffle pizza in the "Beach Rouge".
