JW Marriott Mauritius Resort
Tasteful suite hotel for special moments
Even the welcome cocktail gives you an idea that the food and drink at the former St. Regis Hotel doesn't even contain traces of the mainstream: "Go Green" is the name of the non-alcoholic, freshly squeezed lemonade. At lunchtime in the Boathouse, the taste of the palm heart salad with passion fruit dressing lingers on for a long time. And at sunset, a bottle of champagne is popped in the Sunset Lounge. In the evening, you are spoiled for choice: would you prefer the local dishes from Mauritius - even the potato salad in the main restaurant Le Manoir tastes like a rare delicacy - or the fish at the Japanese restaurant Atsuko? The breakfast buffet is truly grand opera: not senseless opulence, but high-quality variety, from dim sum to vegan yoghurt. Our junior suite no. 284 with balcony is so conveniently located that it's just a stone's throw from all the outlets - and if, for once, we don't want to move at all, we order a bento box from the beach lounger. The suite itself has a beautiful view and almost everything we need: unfortunately, the architect forgot a socket for the hairdryer in the bathroom mirrors.
However, there is no shortage of activities . Eight are included in the rate. Water skiing is included, as is a snorkeling trip. The most unforgettable activity, however, is the hike up the impressive Le Morne Brabant, a UNESCO World Heritage Site - a must. If you want to go all the way up, you need good shoes and sure-footedness. If your calves are burning when you return to the hotel, there is a remedy. It's also nice to know that the "Pure" spa is just a sidestep away. The power massage by Lea from Manila reliably revives all spirits. You can feel her 12 years of experience in every move.
Test highlight: Dinner at the fine Japanese restaurant "Atsuko": black cod with miso and seabass with yuzu - memorable palate ticklers!
