Sandals Royal Plantation
Suite Dreams for couples
Our Royal Oceanfront One Bedroom Suite (#106) on the first floor of the east wing with separate living room/bedroom and balcony was spacious, but too dark for us, and we could hear the noise from the street on the balcony. Our butler organized a very nice alternative in the west wing. The Grand Duchess Oceanfront Verandah Butler Suite (#355), actually a downgrade, was just right for us with its spacious, furnished terrace, like an outdoor living room with a wonderful sea view!
With its 74 suites, the resort is rather small for an all-inclusive accommodation, so the atmosphere is relaxed and heavenly quiet. If you are looking for hustle and bustle, you can visit the neighboring larger Sandals - but the reverse is not possible.
The offer at the Royal Plantation is more than sufficient in terms of culinary delights, entertainment and sport.
sufficient. This starts with breakfast: in the pleasant terrace restaurant, not only is the buffet well stocked, there is also a nice à la carte selection. The Royal Grill on the wide, fine sandy beach is a very pleasant place to sit for lunch and dinner.
The adjoining beach bar -- is a good place for a Bloody Mary at sunset. The French cuisine at Le Papillon is more "old school" than "modern French", but we still enjoyed it. The service here was a little awkward ("Your butler has made a reservation for inside"), but is always cheerful and attentive, as is the case throughout the resort. The turndown was also extremely courteous with fresh towels and other attentions.
