Golden Eye
A guest of James Bond
In the 1970s, Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records, bought the property and built the first accommodation for his guests. This laid the foundations for today's resort, which still has an air of James Bond about it.
The extensive grounds between two sandy beaches and a lagoon are now home to numerous villas, cottages and huts.
numerous villas, cottages and huts. The latter are rather small in size, but cute and quite comfortable "luxury huts" with a very comfortable king bed and romantic mosquito net. Some of them, like our One Bedroom Beach Hut (#41), are even located close to the water.
An even better choice, however, are the comfortable and extremely spacious Beach Villas with one to three bedrooms - guests have direct access to the beach from the terrace.
Button Beach - where you will also find the well-equipped water sports center with the quaint Bamboo Bar - is just a few steps away from our hat. With your feet in the sand, you can enjoy that pure Caribbean feeling here - cool drinks and a decent lunch with unfortunately too small portions included.
The food in general: Good starters in the Bizot restaurant, such as a red snapper ceviche, were followed by calamari that was fried for far too long on the first attempt and tasted almost rubbery. After complaining, however, they came to the table perfectly prepared and tender as butter. The restaurant itself is extremely atmospheric, with an authentic Jamaican vibe and lots of good energy. The à la carte breakfast was also excellent and offered plenty of choice. Among other things, we were spoiled with coconut yoghurt, delicious fruit platters, very good coffee and the fastest service on our entire trip.
